DoH: We are not complacent

Wednesday, 14 May 2008 13:22
Health minister Ann Keen has said the government is "not complacent" about improving patient care in the NHS.

Her comments follow a survey by the Healthcare Commission which revealed "striking" variations in standards of care throughout England's NHS hospitals.

Ms Keen welcomed results showing that many patients reported "high levels of trust in NHS staff, high standards of care and high rates of cleanliness during their stay in hospital".

"These results show that the high standard and quality of care patients can expect is being maintained across the NHS, but we are not complacent," she added.

"We will continue to listen to patients and work on those areas where improvements need to continue."
