A new test for glaucoma should help to identify patients at greatest risk of the eye condition, a consultant ophthalmologist has said.
The Moorfields Motion Displacement Test (MDT) uses unique software to test people's field of vision and is designed to spot glaucoma at an earlier stage.
It was designed by researchers at Moorfields Eye Hospital in collaboration with the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, and City University London.
"The Moorfields MDT is a prime example of how universities and hospitals can work together to bring technological innovations to patients," said Dr Ted Garway-Heath from Moorfields.
"This test will help us identify patients at greatest risk of glaucoma, provide better treatments for glaucoma and also monitoring for patients throughout the course of their disease."
