Asthma UK: Strategies can make life easier

A number of strategies in the home can make life easier for people with asthma, the charity Asthma UK has said.
Its comments follow a review which concluded that products and interventions are not effective at targeting minute house dust mites that can trigger asthma attacks.
Leanne Male, assistant research director at Asthma UK, said the review confirms previous research that suggested dust mite prevention methods have little effect on reducing overall asthma symptoms.
She added: "We believe however, that measures such as washing bed linen at high temperatures and removing soft toys from beds can make life easier for the 90 per cent of people whose asthma is triggered by dust mites, and may enable them to manage their asthma with less medicine.
"This is also a view represented in clinical guidelines for asthma management."
