Today's hot-off-the-press transfer rumours for January. Some spot on. A few still in the balance. Others best taken with the proverbial pinch of salt.

The next bright young thing to come off Ajax Amsterdam's conveyor belt of talent, 20-year-old Ryan Babel, looks set to join Arsenal.

The Dutch wonderkid made his international debut at the age of 18 and travelled to the World Cup with Marco van Basten's men and now looks set to join Arsene Wenger in north London despite interest from Spurs and Newcastle, although the switch may be delayed until the summer.

Bayern Munich's on-again-off-again transfer soap opera that is Owen Hargreaves looks set to take another twist again soon.

Manchester United will hear back in the next 24 hours whether the Germans have agreed to cash in on their lion-hearted dynamo.

Big Sam the Bolton man has sought to boost his forward line with a bid for Leeds striker David Healy, although he faces worrying competition from a Psycho for his £3 million signature - Manchester City's Stuart Pearce, that is.

Pearcey also thinks he may be able to tame a fellow "eccentric" - more specifically Spurs' top-blowing striker Mido. Apparently £2.5 million is considered an ample price for the Lilywhites to offload their troublesome Egyptian.

Plus a Dutchman named Seedorf is to join Charlton Athletic.

Unfortunately for fans at the Valley, it is not the Oranje's talisman Clarence but his cousin, Stefano Seedorf, who is apparently just as good. Shades of Southampton and George Weah's "cousin" Ali Dia, anyone?
