David Nugent is staying with Portsmouth
Clubs have just two days remaining to get in the players they want before the transfer window slams shut at midnight on Friday.
Everton manager David Moyes is keen to bring in a midfielder after the deal for Benfica's
Manuel Fernandes frustratingly fell through at the last minute.
However his attempts have so far been thwarted after
Jermaine Jenas committed his future to Spurs by signing a new contract and
Kevin Nolan rejected the chance to join from Bolton as he is an ardent Liverpool fan at heart.
He is now thought to have turned his attention to interests abroad, lodging a surprise bid for
Juan Roman Riquelme, who is keen to leave Villarreal but is yet to receive a firm offer from his current loan club Boca Juniors.
Nathan Ellington has also reportedly played his last game for West Brom after agreeing terms on a move to Watford before Friday.
However a number of players are now on a list of players who have rejected moves away from their respective clubs.
Portsmouth's
David Nugent has been at the centre of one of the most bizarre transfer stories this summer, after he was linked to a move to Derby County, less than two months after joining Harry Redknapp's side.
He has now pledged his future to the south coast outfit however, as he should, having taken a number of weeks to make a choice over his destination.
Barcelona star
Ronaldinho's move to Chelsea is not about to happen anytime soon either.
The player has previously said he is happy at the Nou Camp, and despite reports that the Blues are ready to meet his £85 million release clause and offer him a world record salary he says he wants to stay and help win back the Primera Liga title from rivals Real Madrid.
Finally Manchester City striker
Georgios Samaras looks set to leave Eastlands to join Middlesbrough after being told he is not considered part of Sven-Goran Eriksson's first-team squad.
City are keen to sign Bolton's
Nicolas Anelka, who remains unsettled at the Reebok Stadium, and Samaras will be the player to make way to replace Boro's departed star
Yakubu.
