History

Fulham has the oldest ground in the football league and with the recently renovated Johnny Haynes stand gaining listed building status, this accolade is long set to continue. With the Cottagers' accession to top level football in 2001, stadium redevelopment beckoned and Fulham's second season in the Premiership saw the club groundshare with Queens Park Rangers while terraces were replaced with seating. The club has always brought a touch of class to proceedings with the likes of Johnny Haynes, Alan Mullery and Bobby Moore gracing the turf on the banks of the Thames.

Mohammed Al Fayed's intervention was a crucial point in the club's history as a Fulham faced dropping into non-league obscurity a decade ago. A meteoric rise through the leagues saw the club achieve the golden chalice in 2001 and Premiership consolidation has been the aim since then. However, the 2004 season finish of 9th has never been bettered and with the tightening of Egyptian purse strings and a few uncomfortable forays into the relegation dogfight, Fulham need to focus if there are to retain top-flight status.
