Andy Murray has pulled out of next week's Wimbledon because of his troublesome wrist injury.
Newspaper reports today claimed the 20-year-old had passed himself fit for the tournament which starts tomorrow.
But Murray has decided he cannot play after an indoor session at Roehampton this afternoon.
The Scot revealed he is still ten days away from returning to the men's tour.
"Unfortunately, I don't think it is going to rain for the next ten days," Murray said.
"I have done everything possible to get ready for Wimbledon. I have played practice sets the last few days but still cannot hit a topspin forehand properly.
"It has been six weeks of really hard work but I'm not 100 per cent ready.
"The wrist is a very important part of tennis and there are a number of players who have made the decision to come back too soon and ended up with long-term injuries and I do not want to take the risk and make the same mistake."
Murray suffered the injury to his right wrist in the first round of the Hamburg Masters on May 15th.
He was seeded eighth for Wimbledon and was scheduled to face Nicolas Lapentti in the first round.
Murray's absence will once again shift the spotlight to Tim Henman in potentially the 32-year-old's last Wimbledon.
