Andy Murray insisted he was unlucky to lose to Andy Roddick in his semi-final at Wimbledon.

The Scot's dream was ended by the American, who triumphed in four sets on Centre Court after three hours and seven minutes.

Murray said he was better than Roddick in many areas, and was agonisingly close to his first final at SW19.

"I thought I played well," the 22-year-old said.

"I hit more winners than him, less unforced errors, more aces, it just came down to a few points here and there.

"It came down to his serve and he served very, very well. There's not a whole lot you can do. I definitely didn't play a bad match."

Meanwhile, Roddick admitted he played one of the best matches of his career to reach his third Wimbledon final.

"I can't say enough good things about Andy's game. But I can play some tennis sometimes.

"Not many people were giving me much of a chance, but I knew if I could stay the course, I had a chance.

"He had a lot of pressure on him, and I could come out and swing, and I think that helped.

"He's been a much better player than I have over the last year - I was just a little bit better today."

Roddick plays five-time champion Roger Federer in Sunday's final.
