Brian Noble has a tough job to do at Wigan
Wigan Warriors have suffered a humiliating 34-4 defeat at home to the Huddersfield Giants this evening.
An inspired Huddersfield side took advantage of a lacklustre Wigan to score six tries through Paul Whaturia, Darrell Griffin, Jamahl Lolesi, David Hodgson (2), and Mark Hudosn.
The once mighty Wigan lost their third game in a row in Super League and now face the possibility of missing out on the play-offs.
Although Huddersfield played well, Wigan were partly to blame for their downfall. The Warriors started badly as they gave away an early penalty in front of their own sticks and Chris Thorman converted the penalty.
The Giants extended their lead as a clever Luke Robinson into the Wigan try area fell perfectly for Hodgson who touched down. Thorman added the extras to make it 8-0.
Another Wigan mistake allowed Huddersfield to score their second try. Forward Gareth Hock tried to off-load from the tackle and the ball was intercepted by Whaturia who ran the length of the pitch to score.
A brilliant 60 metre run by Martin Aspinwall put Huddersfield on the Wigan try-line and Grffin was on hand to walk to the try-line. Thorman kicked the conversion to make the half-time score 18-0.
The Wigan fans were in complete disbelief and were furiously booing their own players as they went in at the break.
Their mood wouldn't have improved in the second-half as it was again one-way traffic as the Giants ran in a further three tries through Hudson, Hodgson, and Lolesi. Wigan did score a try through Pat Richards, but that made little impression among the disgruntled Wigan fans.
