Floyd Mayweather senior believes that Paulie Malignaggi will be "no threat" to Ricky Hatton when the pair clash in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Hatton has been put through his paces by Mayweather for the last six weeks as he prepares to defend his Light-Welterweight title against Malignaggi at the MGM Grand Garden Arena

The American from Brooklyn has only knocked out five of his opponents in his 25-1 professional career and Mayweather does not believe that his power, or lack of, will trouble Hatton.

Mayweather said: "What's he going to do if he hits Ricky? It's not like his eye is going to swell up. He ain't no threat. He's like the wind flying across your face, that's all. I can't say anything good about him.

"I don't know if they're taking this fight as a cakewalk but Ricky's going be on him and let me tell you, he's in hot water."

Hatton parted ways with his long-time handler Billy Graham after a lacklustre points victory over Juan Lazcano at the end of May.

And Mayweather senior has taken it upon himself to improve Hatton’s defence, after the Mancunian suffered the only defeat of his career against Floyd Mayweather junior last December.

Mayweather senior added: "He was a punching bag for my son, I don't take that back, what I said was true. What I'm trying to tell you now is that the man moves his head now.

"He keeps trying to be better and that's how you get better."

What do you think?
