London Irish's Heineken Cup campaign is over after they succumbed 26-24 to Toulouse at the Madjedski Stadium.
Despite a hat-trick of tries from full-back Delon Armitage and a score from England's newest fly-half Shane Geraghty, the Exiles were undone by late scores from Benoit Baby and Jean-Baptiste Elissade which propelled the three-times winners to victory.
Elsewhere Sale ran in four tries away to Calvisano to register a convincing 29-11 win.
The English champions looked poised to run up a far more convincing winning margin after leading 24-3 at half-time but were restricted by some spirited resistance from the Italians.
Lorenzo Cittadini touched down for the hosts' only score before Oriol Ripol went over to ensure the Sharks added the bonus point to the win.
Leicester imperiously brushed aside Cardiff Blues with a thumping 34-0 win at Welford Road which featured tries from England internationals Martin Corry and Lewis Moody.
The other Welsh side in action, Llanelli Scarlets, enjoyed more a better afternoon, overcoming Ulster away from home 35-11.
There were also wins for Wasps and Castres against Perpignan and Treviso respectively.
