Capel would welcome Ramos link up

Ramos could bring one of his former players to White Hart Lane
Sevilla winger Diego Capel says he would welcome the chance to link up with former manager Juande Ramos at Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs are believed to have made a £12.5 million bid to sign the 20-year-old last month but had their offer turned down.

The winger says he is happy at Sevilla but admits a change to the Premier League could help him grow as a player.

He told the Diario de Sevilla: "For sure everybody wants to grow as a footballer, I'm at a great club, but you always have better objectives."

Capel, who made his debut for Sevilla aged 16, says he has been made aware of Spurs' interest in him but he has not spoken to anyone directly.

He said: "I know there's something but the club trust me and I owe them for this confidence.

"[Tottenham manager Juande Ramos] didn't speak to me, he did with my agent I presume, yes. My representatives deal with this."

Capel said he respected Sevilla's right to turn down a transfer offer but hinted that a move away from the Spanish side remained a strong possibility.

"For sure my intention is to keep developing at Sevilla. If they value my work I'll stay here or if they value me more elsewhere, you never know what can happen," added Capel.

Tottenham have already strengthened their midfield with the signings of Giovanni dos Santos and Luka Modric this summer, but could use money from the potential sale of striker Dimitar Berbatov to fund an increased bid for Capel.
