Sir Alex Ferguson is still aiming to bring in a new striker to Manchester United this summer and has revealed he has four names in mind.

United are short up-front for the new season with Wayne Rooney sidelined with a virus, Cristiano Ronaldo out till October, and Louis Saha injury prone. Which means Ferguson only has Carlos Tevez in top shape ahead of the season opener against Newcastle.

"We are looking at three or four different options in the striking department which I hope will come to a happy conclusion," said Ferguson. "Hopefully we will have someone in for the start of the season."

Tottenham star Dimitar Berbatov is thought to be one of the names on the list. United have reportedly already had bids turned down for the striker earlier this summer. Ferguson was alleged to have said he was confident of signing Berbatov, but later retracted his comments.

If the Premier League champions fail to get Berbatov, then the other names that have been linked with the club are been Lyon forward Karim Benzema and Ajax captain Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

Frenchman Saha has had an injury-hit time at Old Trafford and there were reports his former United team-mate Roy Keane wanted to take him to Sunderland. But Ferguson insisted he wanted to keep Saha and felt the 30-year-old is "an explosive player who will guarantee 20 goals a season."
