Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas says he would turn down any future move to Manchester City, claiming it would be "suicidal" for his career.

Since the Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG) took control of City from Thaksin Shinawatra on Monday the big spending club have been linked with a host of players.

City are currently third in the Premier League having won two of their opening three matches this season.

With the capture of Robinho from Real Madrid they are now seen as contenders for a Champions League place and therefore a direct threat to Arsenal.

But Fabregas says he will not jump from Arsenal to City just because they now have more financial capital.

ADUG – made up of a consortium of Dubai-based billionaires – have said they plan to invest more money when the January transfer window comes around.

However, Fabregas says if they think they can tempt him away from the Gunners with the lure of more money then they are wrong.

Fabregas told the Telegraph: "It would be suicidal for my career at my 21 years of age to move to City. It would make no sense."

The midfielder has long been linked with a big move back to his homeland, Spain, with Real Madrid heading the queue.

But Fabregas says he is happy to remain at the Gunners an does not want to move north to their Premier League rivals.
