Arsenal have confirmed an agreement has been reached with young defender Armand Traore over a new long-term contract with the club.
The 18-year-old - a versatile left-back, who is also capable of playing in midfield - has already played in 18 first-team matches for the Gunners since joining as a scholar two years ago, including two Champions League appearances.
He has primarily been used by manager Arsene Wenger in a youthful side for the League Cup campaigns in 2006/07 and 2007/08.
Traore, who is a regular in the French under-19s, is seen by the Arsenal boss as cover for Gael Clichy at left-back, as well as an option for the left wing and a natural talent who can soon develop into a first-team regular.
"Everyone at Arsenal is delighted that Armand has extended his contract with the club," a brief statement on the Arsenal website reads.
