Gloucester return to summit after seeing off Wasps

The win for Gloucester seals a home play-off place
Gloucester returned to the top of the Guinness Premiership with a 25-17 win over Wasps at Adams Park.

The visitors had a five-point lead at the break with James Simpson-Daniel and Mike Tindall touching down, while Ryan Lamb kicked over a penalty and a conversion.

Lamb added another penalty and a conversion while Morgan touched down in the closing stages to seal victory.

Raphael Ibanez crashing over twice for Wasps while the in-form Danny Cipriani slotted over a penalty and a conversion.

Elsewhere, Jonny Wilkinson helped Newcastle beat Leicester 28-25 at Kingston Park.

The Falcons led 20-12 at the break thanks to tries from Andy Long and Phil Dawson, with Wilkinson booting over two penalties and two conversions.

Ben May touched down in the second half to add to another Wilkinson penalty to move the Falcons into tenth place, while Leicester stay in sixth position.

Leicester, who trailed 20-12 at the break, crossed the line through Jordon Crane and a brace from Tom Varndell.

Elsewhere, London Irish piled on the misery for rock-bottom Leeds Carnegie with a 43-20 thumping at the Madejski Stadium.

Faan Rautenbach, Topsy Ojo, and Declan Danaher touched down for the Exiles to give them a 17-10 advantage at half-time.

Tries from Tomas De Vedia, Paul Hodgson and Shane Geraghty along with a penalty try, sealed victory for Irish who remain in seventh place.

Elsewhere, Sale defeated Harlequins 23-16 to move above them in the table at The Stoop.

Tom Biggs and Hendre Fourie crossed the line for the visitors while Leigh Hinton and Adam Greendale booted over a conversion and penalty each.

The Sharks led 20-11 at the break thanks to tries from Richard Wigglesworth, Andy Vilk, while Charlie Hodgson kicked over two penalties and two conversions.

Quins scored tries from Tom Williams and Danny Care while Adrian Jarvis kicked over two penalties.

Hodgson kicked over another penalty in the second half to keep Sale's title hopes alive while Quins slip to fifth place.End of story
