Gloucester continue Premiership rise

Gloucester trail Premiership leaders Bath by one point but have played one game more
Gloucester triumphed in the West Country derby after beating Bristol 39-10 in the Guinness Premiership at Kingsholm.

Gloucester were explosive in the first half and led 25-3 after a try from Olly Morgan and a brace from Peter Buxton, while Ryan Lamb kicked over ten points.

Alex Brown and Lamb added further tries in the second half for the hosts while David Lemi scored a grabbed a late consolation for Bristol.

Gloucester, who have finished the last two seasons top of the Premiership table, climb to second after their bonus-point win while Bristol remain rooted to the bottom.

Elsewhere, Worcester defeated Newcastle 26-11 at the Sixways Stadium.

The Warriors were led to victory by a try in each half from Chris Latham and Sam Tuitupou, while Loki Crichton booted over two penalties and two conversions.

Matthew Jones and Chris Pennell also slotted over penalties for the home side to give Worcester their second straight win following their triumph over Sale last Friday.

The Falcons, who trailed 3-9 at the break, scored a late try through Johnny Williams while Rory Clegg kicked over two penalties.

Worcester cement their place in eighth with their third win of the season while Newcastle languish in tenth spot, three points off the foot of the standings.
