Huby signs new three-year Castleford contract

Craig Huby, 21, signs new three-year contract with Castleford Tigers
Castleford Tigers prop Craig Huby has signed a three-year contract extension to keep him at the club until the end of the 2011 Super League season.

The 21-year-old is the club's longest-serving player, having risen through the Cas youth system before signing professional terms at the age of 16.

He made his debut against Leeds Rhinos at Headingley in 2002 as a 17-year-old and has gone on to make 90 appearances for the club, scoring 23 tries and kicking 113 goals.

Huby said he is "very happy" to have agreed a new deal with the club, saying he has "no wish to move away" despite reported interest from other Super League clubs.

"We have had some disappointments this season but I feel that the club's future is very bright, and as a local lad I want to be part of it," he explained.

"I feel that I am playing more consistently this year and appreciate the support that I have had from the coaching team here at the club."

Tigers head coach Terry Matterson added: "I'm really pleased that Craig has signed a new deal.

"Although still only young, he has been here for some time now and been through the clubs recent ups and downs.

"He deserves this, we feel that we have laid a platform with him and that his best rugby is in front of him and it's good that we have tied up another of the players who has come through the club's academy system."End of story
