Wasps fly-half Danny Cipriani and team-mate Josh Lewsey came to blows after a training ground argument yesterday, according to reports.
The pair were involved in a spat after Lewsey accused Cipriani of missing several tackles during a full-contact session as the team prepared to open their Heineken Cup title defence against Castres this weekend.
Cipriani is reported to have threatened Lewsey, 31, before the England World Cup-winning full-back punched the 20-year-old - leaving him with a bloody nose and a cut lip.
A source is quoted in the Mirror newspaper as saying Cipriani told his team-mate to "shut up or be shut up" before a shoving match broke out, ending when Lewsey lashed out.
Wasps have refused to comment on the alleged fight, or on reports that the training session was cut short as a result of the confrontation.
