Arsene Wenger's side have not won a trophy since their FA Cup triumph in 2005
Arsene Wenger insists his young squad will be stronger title challengers next season following the 1-0 win over
Everton at the Emirates Stadium.
Nicklas Bendtner headed in after 77 minutes for the Gunners, who fielded youngsters including Lukasz Fabianski, Theo Walcott, Armand Traore, and Denilson.
The north London club look set to finish the season in third place, despite topping the table until December.
Wenger said he is confident his side can end their four-year title drought next season.
"Overall we had a big disappointment because we didn't win the league but we were so close," Wenger said.
"Like every winner we will aim to come back next season and do it.
"It's very encouraging with so many players out we were still strong at the back."
The defeat for Everton means they need a point against
Newcastle United next Sunday to clinch a Uefa Cup spot.
If the Toffees lose to the Magpies,
Aston Villa will snatch fifth spot if they beat
West Ham United at Upton Park.
Everton boss David Moyes admitted he was disappointed at conceding a late goal.
"There is a lot of disappointment not to get the point but the performance was good, the players stuck at it. It is always difficult here because
Arsenal have so much possession," Moyes said.
"I thought things had started to turn in our favour but they are a very good counter-attacking team.
"We have been fourth or fifth all year and we want to hang on to it."
