Andrew Sheridan ruled out of England v South Africa this weekend
Prop Andrew Sheridan has been ruled out of England's autumn international against world champions South Africa this weekend due to a neck injury.
The Sale Sharks front-row, who was forced off during England's 28-14 defeat to Australia last Saturday, will be replaced in the starting XV by Tim Payne.
The Rugby Football Union (RFU) have said Sheridan is being rested "as a precaution", adding that he is expected to be available for selection for the New Zealand match at Twickenham on November 29th.
Wasps prop Payne was not even named among the replacements in the original matchday 22 on Tuesday.
However, he has been preferred by team manager Martin Johnson as a starter ahead of substitute Matt Stevens of Bath.
Meanwhile, South Africa have also announced their team to face England on Saturday in what will be their final international match of the year.
Winger Bryan Habana has been passed fit to start, despite picking up a minor knock in the 14-10 win over Scotland last week, but Fourie du Preez is out with a quadriceps injury so Ricky Januaries will continue to deputise at scrum-half.
Tighthead prop Jannie du Plessis comes into the front-row in place of his injured brother Bismarck, with captain John Smit moving to hooker.
And there is also a change in the back row where Danie Rossouw is promoted from the bench to replace Juan Smith, who is suffering from a mild concussion.
