Langeveldt to make weekend debut after signing for Derbyshire
Derbyshire have agreed a two-year deal with South Africa's Charl Langeveldt, it has been announced.

The 33-year old is expected to make his debut for the county side in this Sunday's Friends Provident Trophy game against Yorkshire and the team's head of cricket, John Morris, has expressed his confidence that this latest signing will give them a significant boost for the season.

"Charl is an excellent addition to our squad and brings real quality and experience to our side," he said.

"He has proven ability at the highest level of the game and just as importantly is exactly the sort of character we are looking for.

"We have managed to bring him to Derbyshire ahead of several other options he had and we are delighted to have him on board."

Langeveldt has featured in 59 one-day internationals for South Africa, taking 243 wickets, while he has also represented his country in six Test series, taking an average of 37.06.

However, the player recently pulled out of South Africa's tour of India.

Over the past few months, Langeveldt has been playing for Cape Cobras in his native country, and he has also played for Somerset and Leicestershire in the 2005 and 2007 seasons respectively.
