South Africa flanker Schalk Burger has been handed an eight-week ban for eye-gouging during the second Test against the British and Irish Lions at the weekend.
The highly-rated back-row forward was sin-binned by referee Christophe Berdos just one minute into Saturday's game in Pretoria, which saw the Springboks claim an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Burger was spotted by a touch-judge eye gouging Lions wing Luke Fitzgerald, who gave evidence at Sunday night's hearing.
In an additional ban for the Boks, Bakkies Botha was also ruled out of the third Test after being found guilty of an offence of dangerous charging at the International Rugby Board citation hearing.
The incident for which Botha was cited left Lions prop Adam Jones with a dislocated shoulder, which rules him out of the final match of the tour.
