Singh may face ban
Mumbai Indians bowler Harbhajan Singh could face disciplinary action and a possible ban following accusations that he slapped an opposition player.
The incident is alleged to have taken place during his side's recent Indian Premier League game against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali.
After the encounter, television pictures were broadcast showing pace bowler Sree Santh crying, despite his side having won.
A statement released by the league's Board of Control confirmed that the alleged incident is currently being looked into.
"He [Singh] is called upon to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against him," it read.
"He has been asked for clarification by Monday evening."
During the match in question Harbhajan was captaining Mumbai after Sachin Tendulkar was forced to withdraw with a groin injury.
It has also been revealed that Punjab captain Yuvaj Singh, who felt that the incident was "unacceptable", has nevertheless let the matter drop, telling a local television station that the players in question have moved on.
"It is not such a big issue the way people are making it out to be. It is between me and Sree," Harbhajan told a local television station.
Should the spin-bowler receive a ban, it would deal a further blow to Mumbai, who have yet to record an IPL win.
