Baseball may return to the Games if Major League players take part
South Korea have become Olympic baseball champions after beating Cuba 3-2 in the final of the competition.
It is the last time the event will be held in the Olympics for at least eight years as it has been dropped for the London Games in 2012.
The Koreans went ahead in the first innings with a two-run homer thanks to Lee Seung-yuop.
Cuba responded with a run of their own as well as another in the ninth but Korea had already got a man back to the home plate.
In the ninth innings the Koreans completed a double play with the bases loaded to win the match.
In the bronze medal match America defeated Japan 8-4.
