Kanaeva wins rhythmic gymnastics gold for Russia

Kanaeva scored well across all four routines
Evgeniya Kanaeva has won the gold medal in the Olympic rhythmic gymnastics for Russia, beating Inna Zhukova of Belarus and Ukraine's Anna Bessonova.
Kanaeva scored well in the first two cycles, gaining marks of 18.850 for both her rope and hoop routines.
However, she pulled away from the competition when she scored 18.950 for her club routine the highest score of the competition for any of the routines.
Kanaeva finished with a total of 75.500 while Zhukova scored 71.925 with Bessonova just 0.05 points further adrift.
