US fans watched their side take another basketball gold
Australia were defeated 92-65 in the basketball gold medal match by the USA, handing their captain Lisa Leslie her fourth Olympic gold.
Leslie has been representing the USA since she was 24 and has been part of a side which continued its unbeaten Olympic run in Beijing across four Games.
The US women quickly established a lead over Australia, who struggled with their percentages and in the paint. After a defensive start they worked well as a team, scoring 17 assists to Australia's seven in a fast-paced display.
"We fought hard and we beat Australia. It's the third Olympics in a row that we've faced them for the gold," Leslie said afterwards.
