China sweep men's table tennis medals

China's Ma Lin wins gold
China have won a clean-sweep in the men's singles table tennis at the Beijing Olympics after Wang Liqin beat Sweden's Jorgen Persson for the bronze medal.

China were already guaranteed gold and silver after Ma Lin and Wang Hao qualified for the final.

However, the final did not go according to the form book with world champion Wang being defeated by his compatriot Ma 4-1.

Ma won the first two games 11-9 before Wang got a game back, but he could not stop Ma who won the next two games 11-7, 11-9 to seal the gold.

Wang Liqin beat Persson 4-0 in a comfortable match to win the bronze. Persson fought hard in the first game but lost 13-11, after that Wang won 11-2, 11-5, 11-9 to complete the clean-sweep for the home nation.
