Woods confident of recovery before US Open

Tigers Woods claims says will definitely be fit for US Open in June
Tiger Woods has said his rehabilitation from a knee operation "is going well" and he expects to be fit for the US Open in June at the very latest.

The world number one was forced to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his troublesome left knee as it had been causing him discomfort for some months.

Woods selected the current window between two of golf's major tournaments - the Masters and the US Open – to have the necessary operation.

And despite fears his rehab could be delayed to such an extent that he may not make it to tee off at Torrey Pines on June 12th, he has claimed he intends to return to the PGA Tour at the Memorial tournament on May 29th.

"The rehab is going well. I've been training hard," Woods explained, although he admitted he is itching to get back to golf rather than fitness work.

"I'm getting sick and tired of riding the bike, but I am chipping and putting," he continued.

"I'm not doing anything beyond that. Hopefully I'll start hitting balls, start progressing soon and work my way up the bag.

Woods added: "If I can't play before it then I will be back for the US Open."End of story
