Padraig Harrington says "willpower" behind his USPGA victory, his second consecutive major win
New USPGA champion Padraig Harrington has attributed his victory at Oakland Hills to "sheer willpower".
The 36-year-old Irishman finished two shots clear to claim the title, several weeks after winning a consecutive Open title.
But he said afterwards that his latest triumph was a "different win" after initially struggling in bad weather.
"I was comfortable with my game in winning the Open. This week I haven't been as confident and comfortable," Harrington said.
"Here I hit some of the wildest golf shots ever hit on a golf course on Friday. But I knew I had the ability to win if I got a chance. In the end it was [down to] sheer willpower."
