The wife of Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has filed for divorce
The wife of formula one boss Bernie Ecclestone has filed for divorce, a spokeswoman has confirmed.
Slavacia Ecclestone's decision to make the announcement public on Thursday was prompted by media speculation.
Mr Ecclestone's personal fortune is estimated to be in excess of £2 billion, with stakes in Alpha Prema (the owners of formula one) and Queens Park Rangers.
The couple who married in 1985 have two daughters, Tamara, 24, and Petra 19.
It is reported that Mrs Ecclestone will be represented by divorce lawyer Liz Vernon who became infamous after the groundbreaking ruling involving the wife of former Arsenal footballer Ray Parlour.
Ms Vernon secured a ruling which gave her client a third of Mr Parlour's future earnings for four years.
Reports suggest Mrs Ecclestone, 50, moved out of the family's home in Chelsea a couple of weeks ago.
