Super Aguri travel to Barcelona

Super Aguri team still unsure whether they will race this weekend
Formula One team Super Aguri have travelled to Barcelona for this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix despite doubts over their ability to take part.

The Japanese team were plunged into financial uncertainty last week when a potential takeover fell through.

However, the team appears confident of being able to afford to put their cars on the grid at the Circuit de Catalunya as they have travelled to the race track ahead of the weekend.

Last week the team announced that Magma Group - the company controlled by Dubai International Capital, the investors looking to buy into Liverpool FC – had pulled out of negotiations to purchase the team.

And in a statement, owner Aguri Suzuki said he has been "forced to consider the future of the team" because of a lack of funds.

A spokesperson from Super Aguri was unavailable for comment.

Britain's Anthony Davidson and experienced Japanese driver Takuma Sato are thought to have travelled with the team to Spain and will hope to continue competing in the F1 calendar.

A decision on the team's future is expected to be made ahead of Friday's practice sessions in preparation for the race itself on Sunday.End of story
