The Super Aguri team have secured their place on the grid in 2008
Cash-strapped formula one team Super Aguri have announced they have secured the necessary funds to compete in the 2008 season.

The Japanese marque have also revealed a partnership with Honda, who will supply them with engines and technical information for the duration of the year.

Sponsorship from technology entrepreneurial investment group Magma will also allow the team to fully register with the F1 authorities ahead of this weekend's season-opening grand prix in Australia.

Team principal Aguri Suzuki said: "I am pleased to announce our new partner and drivers finally at this late stage.

"I am looking forward to a successful and long-lasting collaboration with Magma group about drivers, as I have wanted them to continue their work in our team, I was not worried at all about our drivers for 2008."

The lineup of Anthony Davidson and Takuma Sato - which is unchanged from 2007, has now been confirmed and Suzuki said the preservation of the team would be "a big advantage" in achieving long-term consistency.

"For Anthony, as this season will be his second as a racing driver, I am expecting him to achieve some points," the team principal continued.

"For Takuma, I would like him to repeat the excellent work he did last season. It will be an interesting season and we will try our best to help them achieve these goals."

Sato admitted the team's winter preparation had "not been as comprehensive as we had wished".

"However we always get over these difficulties and keep pushing forward with our fighting spirit," he continued.

"I hope that we can maintain this through the coming season and make up for some lost time. I am looking forward to the coming season."
