Chelsea appear to be streamlining their squad this month with a number of fringe players leaving Stamford Bridge.
After the departure of reserve left-back Wayne Bridge to Manchester City earlier this month, second-choice goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini looks set to be the next out of the door.
The Italian is known to be attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur, while big-spending Manchester City could also be in for him.
However, Mark Hughes' interest is subject to a provisional approach to Newcastle United for their shot-stopper Shay Given, although a price-tag of £14 million has deterred City somewhat.
Hughes is also keen to bring in a high-profile striker, with Valencia's David Villa and Chelsea's Didier Drogba currently top of his wish-list.
Wigan are close to completing the signing of Colombian international striker Hugo Rodallega for a fee of around £4.5 million, with the player currently at the JJB Stadium for a medical.
And Marlon King is set to finalise his move from Wigan to Middlesbrough, with fellow striker Mido set to be used as a makeweight in the negotiations.
