Kaka could be heading to Stamford Bridge
Chelsea could be set to make the transfer coup of the summer by landing Brazilian duo Kaka and Robinho.
The Blues have wanted Kaka for some time but their blockbuster offer to AC Milan was rejected earlier in the summer, causing them to switch targets to Robinho.
Newspaper speculation now claims £100 million will get both players with Chelsea having buttered-up Milan by sending San Siro favourite
Andriy Shevchenko back to Italy.
Those two moves could be partly funded by the departure of
Florent Malouda. The Frenchman has struggled at Stamford Bridge and Newcastle could make a £12 million bid. Though
Malouda would not be the full-back
Kevin Keegan has been hinting he needs.
Liverpool remain in the transfer merry-go-round. Blackburn could be set to bid £6 million for
Jermaine Pennant to help fill the void left by
David Bentley.
The Reds may then use that money to shore-up their left flank. They hope to capture Middlesbrough's
Stewart Downing who
Rafa Benitez will have got a good look at during yesterday's match between the two clubs, though the England midfielder could cost £14 million.
Following his omission from the Tottenham squad yesterday
Dimitar Berbatov's transfer to Manchester United looks to be back on. United have apparently made a take-it-or-leave-it offer of £25 million to Spurs - £5 million short of what Spurs are believed to want.
Perhaps the shrewdest piece of business could be completed by Fulham who are linked with impressive Czech Republic midfielder
Jaroslav Plasil. His club Osasuna want just £2.5 million.
