Carlos Tevez is a wanted man
Carlos Tevez is eyed up by United, Sunderland sign Royals star, Diego Forlan's Reds link played down and all the rest of the rumours on the InTheNews transfer grapevine.

West Ham look destined to lose hold of star striker Carlos Tevez but the destination the Argentina international remains unclear.

Manchester United are said to be the latest club to earmark the man who kept the Hammers in the Premiership as a potential summer signing.

But the big-spending Red Devils may lose out in their pursuit of the 23-year-old to Inter Milan, who Tevez is believed to favour a move to instead.

The other Reds in the north-west, Liverpool, are still trying to tempt former United misfit Diego Forlan to Anfield but it appears there is still much work to be done.

His agent has sought to play down reports of an imminent move from Villareal and said he is unaware of any contact being made.

Another Villareal player, Robert Pires, has also attempted to scotch rumours of a potential move to Spain for Chelsea's Claude Makelele, who has been linked with a switch to the continent.

Pires said his fellow France midfielder "has no desire" to join him at the Spanish club.

In characteristic Arsene Wenger style, Arsenal have been avoiding high-profile targets and instead seeking to build for the future in north London.

The Gunners boss wants 16-year-old Norwegian defender Havard Nordveit to come to the Emirates Stadium, although his initial overtures have been rebuffed by the teenager's side.

However, the "door is not closed" according to FK Haugesund director Nils Halvor Berge and it seems the move may be resurrected later this month.

One deal that has been tied up is the £3.5 million move of Reading defender Greg Halford to Premiership newcomers Sunderland.

Black Cats boss Roy Keane completed the deal today and the 22-year-old's arrival represents the Irishman's first signing of the summer.
