Fagan becomes Hull's first top-flight signing

Hull boss Phil Brown has made Fagan his first signing of the summer
Striker Craig Fagan has become Hull City's first signing as a Premier League side after joining from Derby County today.

Fagan had been on-loan at the KC Stadium since March and made his transfer permanent in a £750,000 move. The 25-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Tigers.

The forward made 22 appearances for Derby in the Premier League last season before manager Paul Jewell agreed to let Fagan rejoin his former club.

Fagan originally arrived at the KC Stadium from Colchester United in February 2005 before leaving for Derby in January 2007.

Having helped the Rams secure promotion to the top flight he was a regular in the Derby team last season.

Jewell said: "Craig leaves with our best wishes and thanks for the hard work he put in at Derby County.

"I don't think it's any secret that Craig wanted to make this deal permanent and I believe it's a deal that benefits all parties involved - both clubs and the player."

The Tigers will hope to bolster their squad further in the coming weeks as they begin preparations for their first season in the Premier League.

Derby have signed nine new players since the end of the season and selling Fagan back to Hull has allowed Jewell to balance the books as he tries to mastermind their return to the top flight.

Fagan failed to score in the league for Derby last season and was not on the scoresheet during his 11 matches with Hull at the end of the campaign.
