Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper Luke McCormick is due in court today
Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper Luke McCormick has appeared in court accused of causing the deaths of two young brothers who died in a car crash on the M6 on Saturday.
The 24-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the fatal collision on the M6.
Arron and Ben Peak, aged ten and eight from the Manchester area, died when the vehicle they were travelling in crashed with a Range Rover in Staffordshire.
Mr McCormick was charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, having excess alcohol in his blood and driving with no insurance.
In court he was released on conditional bail and is due to next appear at Stoke crown court on June 16th.
The boys' 37-year-old father Philip is in hospital in a serious condition with fractures to his neck and back, broken ribs and bruising and swelling to his lungs.
He was driving the Toyota Previa people carrier when the crash happened between junctions 15 and 16 of the southbound motorway near Keele services shortly before 05:45 BST on Saturday.
The brothers and their father had been travelling to Silverstone racing circuit for the day.
A statement read out on behalf of Amanda Peak, 30, and her husband on Sunday said that Arron "loved life, especially football, at which he excelled, and Ben was a happy, loving son and brother".
The statement continued: "No parent should ever have to go through the nightmare that we have gone through.
"Nothing will ever compensate us for the loss we are feeling."
Three other people in the vehicle were all released from hospital on Saturday and returned home.
Mr McCormick is due to appear before Stoke-on-Trent magistrates' court later today.
