Rafa plays down Crouch fears

Crouch was replaced by Dirk Kuyt after 23 minutes against the Blades
Rafael Benitez has revealed Peter Crouch should be fit for next week's clash with Manchester United despite breaking his nose.

The England striker was stretchered off with blood pouring down his face after getting a boot to the head from Rob Hulse in yesterday's 4-0 thumping over Sheffield United at Anfield.

Crouch, who scored the winner the last time the Reds beat bitter rivals United in February 2006, is expected to be named as a substitute in Saturday's crunch tie with Sir Alex Ferguson's side.

Benitez said he should be available for the game with United at Anfield.

"Crouch has a broken nose and needed stitches but it's not serious, he's OK and I spoke to him after the game," Benitez told the club's website.

Crouch is expected to play a part in a crucial period for the Reds with the second leg of the Champions League tie with Barcelona taking place just three days after the clash with United.

The lanky striker, who has bagged six goals this season, has had a frustrating season due to the partnership of Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt.

The Reds moved third in the table after yesterday's win over the Blades thanks to two penalties from Robbie Fowler along with strikes from Sami Hyppia and skipper Steven Gerrard.End of story
