Villa's Scott Carson fit to face Manchester United this weekend
Aston Villa goalkeeper Scott Carson will be fit to face
Manchester United on Saturday despite pulling out of the England squad last week.
The 22-year-old withdrew from Fabio Capello's squad for the friendly against France in Paris tonight after he picked up a knee injury.
Carson, who was replaced by
West Ham United stopper Robert Green in the international setup, underwent a scan on the injury but was given the all-clear.
He will rest and resume training later this week ahead of the crunch match against the league leaders at Old Trafford.
A club spokesman revealed the withdrawal of Carson was precautionary and that the signs were good that he would not need any major treatment.
"We didn't think it was anything serious but, after consultation between our own medical team and England's, it was decided a week away with the international squad may have aggravated the problem," the spokesman said.
Villa will hope to become only the third club to pick up league points at Old Trafford this season.
Reading's goalless draw on the opening day of the season and
Manchester City's 2-1 win in February were the only other home matches this season in which United have dropped points.
