Capello to build bridges with club bosses

Fabio Capello wants good relationship with club managers
England coach Fabio Capello has stated his belief that a good relationship with club managers will be key to his and the national team's future success.

The Italian also revealed he intends to adopt a new strategy to do this - joining the club bosses in 'informal meetings' after Premier League matches.

It has been revealed to the press in the past that managers such as Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho would sit down after games and share a bottle of wine.

But Capello says he wants to be included in these chats so that he can improve communication between the Football Association and the top-flight clubs.

Speaking to the League Managers' Association's new magazine, The Manager, Capello revealed: "It's important for me to understand the views and attitudes in this country.

"[West Ham United manager] Alan Curbishley and [Everton boss] David Moyes told me recently about the tradition of managers meeting informally after a match.

"Next season, I aim to follow their suggestion to join managers after games when I can."

Capello believes it is "very important" to build "good relationships" to help him settle into his job ahead of the crucial 2010 World Cup qualifiers later this year.

"I understand how it feels as a club manager when your players leave to play for the national side," he continued.

"We all have different priorities. Mine is to make the England team successful, but we must all work together.

"While I know some managers very well, I want to know all of them better."

He added: "I'm interested to see how [Luis Felipe] Scolari works at Chelsea. I know him well from Roma – he's a good man and will do a good job."End of story
