Jol is looking for back-up for Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane
Former Italy star Christian Vieri is considering a move to Tottenham, according to newspaper reports.
The 33-year-old is available on a free transfer after being released by Atalanta this week.
Spurs have reportedly contacted Vieri's agent and are planning further talks over a move to White Hart Lane next week.
Italian clubs Genoa, Napoli, Palermo, and Torino have also been linked with the striker.
Vieri has had spells at Sampdoria, Monaco, and AC Milan since 2005 after six years at Inter Milan. He scored an impressive 103 goals in 144 games for Inter before moving to their city rivals.
The controversial striker is currently pursuing a civil action against Inter and Telecom Italia, alleging the club hired a private team of investigators to spy on him and bug his phone calls.
Inter were cleared on Friday of allegations they spied on their star players and a referee by the disciplinary committee of the Italian Football Federation.
Manager Martin Jol is desperate for a striker and has been chasing Charlton's Darren Bent and
Manchester United forward Alan Smith.
Mido is set to quit the club over a lack of first-team chances while Jermain Defoe is believed to be frustrated at being overlooked.
