Jordan wants compensation for Bostock befoe he releases his registration
Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan is angry over the impending departure of teenager John Bostock to
Tottenham Hotspur.
Yesterday Spurs claimed they had reached an agreement with Bostock for him to move across London and join them.
However, Jordan says nothing can be done until Palace receive compensation for the player. Jordan also pointed out that Bostock was still under contract for the next few days and therefore was not in a position to agree anything with another club.
Jordan told Sky Sports that Bostock's father had assured him he would sign for Palace and the entrepreneur is disappointed he went back on his word.
"John Bostock's father has told me on three occasions that John will be signing for Palace. Next thing I know he's going to Tottenham," said Jordan.
The Palace chairman believes Bostock should stay at his club because he would have a better chance to develop in the first team. Jordan made a similar claim when Spurs signed Wayne Routledge from the Eagles and the winger has since failed to establish himself as a regular at Tottenham.
Jordan said: "John Bostock would have got in our first team and would have learned his trade in our first team. I'm not so sure he'll get the opportunities at Tottenham in the immediate future that his talent may well need to be nurtured."
Having trained the 16-year-old for the last six years Jordan says Palace are due a fair compensation for his development thus far and admits the matter is likely to be resolved by a tribunal.
He said: "They [Spurs] may well have discussed [terms] with John Bostock and they may well have put an offer to him that he would like to accept. But he can't accept it until the matter is resolved in the situation between John and Crystal Palace and our compensatory rights."
Therefore with the matter of money still to be resolved sorted out between the two clubs it may still take until the end of the transfer window for Bostock to officially become a Spurs player.
