Huddlestone signs five-year Spurs deal
Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone has agreed a new five-year deal with the north London club, it has been confirmed.

Securing the the 21-year-old's long-term commitment becomes the latest move by Spurs boss Juande Ramos as he looks to build upon the success of last season, which saw him win the Carling Cup despite having only taken over from Martin Jol in October.

The tough-tacking player, who joined from Derby in 2005 and who won his first call-up to the senior England squad last season, will now be tied to the club until 2013.

At the same time, the White Hart Lane side have confirmed the signing of Italian 16-year-old goalkeeper Mirko Ranieri from Perugia.

"Mirko is 6ft 2in and an excellent shot-stopper," explained the club's sporting director Damien Comolli.

"His distribution and decision-making is improving all the time.

"He is a highly intelligent individual and another very good young goalkeeper we have attracted to the club."

The move is likely to further alarm former England international stopper Paul Robinson, who has already seen Brazilian keeper Heurelho Gomes arrive at Spurs for £10 million from PSV Eindhoven.

Ramos has also signed Givani Dos Santos from Barcelona for £4.7 million as well as Croatian creative midfielder Luka Modric for £16.5 million in what has been a busy summer in the transfer market for the club.
