Gerrard determined to win title with Reds

Gerrard wants to win the league title with Liverpool
Steven Gerrard says he remains committed to Liverpool despite speculation linking him with a move abroad.

The Anfield side were quick to dismiss rumours that Inter Milan had bid £25 million for the England midfielder, but Gerrard says he is not looking to leave Liverpool anyway.

Gerrard almost left for Chelsea two seasons ago but eventually decided against the move because he wanted to achieve his dream of winning the title with the Reds.

Despite a trophy-less season Gerrard believes the club are close to achieving his ambition and he hopes to be challenging for the Premier League title next season.

Gerrard said: "I cannot see myself ever leaving Liverpool now and what I would dearly love is to lead this club to the next level that I believe we are capable of reaching.

"I have won trophies here but there is one I am missing and I want that before I finish playing."

Gerrard said he would regret leaving Liverpool only for them to go on and lift the league title in his absence.

With the addition of Fernando Torres this season Gerrard insists the Reds are only a few players away from being able to finish top next season.

He said: "I do not want to look back and say I have never been in a title race. I can see that the team is getting stronger and stronger and I can see that we are going forward. I feel that we are getting closer and I really believe that."

The Liverpool captain says the side have improved this season but insists "there is a hell of a lot more to come from us".

Liverpool are already assured of finishing in fourth place ahead of their trip to Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow.End of story
