Furious Keane plotting major overhaul at Sunderland

Roy Keane is planning a radical overhaul at Sunderland in the next fortnight after losing patience with some of his players.

The Black Cats survived relegation, but Saturday's 1-0 defeat against Bolton Wanderers was their third loss in five games.

Keane spent £40 million this season and reportedly wants the Sunderland board to give him another £50 million this summer.

The ex-Manchester United skipper admits he needs to "invest wisely and move some people on".

"That will be done this week - if not this week, then the following week," Keane said.

"We've lost 22 games this season and people keep telling me we've had a good season, but I'm lucky to still be in a job.

"It's irrelevant to me whether players are under contract. If they are, you just pay them up to go because you want certain characters.

"Every game is an opportunity to impress me, but there will be changes in the summer because I'm saying the same thing week in, week out."

Keane has one year left on his contract and will consider whether to sign a new deal over the summer.

Sunderland, who lie 15th in the Premier League table, end their season at home to Arsenal next Sunday.End of story
