LMA says it would not stop Paul Ince becoming Blackburn Rovers boss despite MK Dons manager lacking Uefa Pro Licence
The League Managers Association (LMA) has said it would not stand in the way of Paul Ince being named
Blackburn Rovers manager despite the MK Dons boss lacking the appropriate qualifications.
Ince is the favourite to succeed Mark Hughes at Rovers but does not possess a Uefa Pro Licence, which all Premier League managers are required to have passed.
But LMA chief Richard Bevan has emphasised the stipulation is a requirement of the Premier League itself.
"It's a Premier League rule," he told Sky Sports News. "The Premier League has made exceptions to it in the past and that's up to them.
"From our perspective, if any manager wants help to get qualifications, either football related or non-football related, we are here to help. We would support Paul Ince if he got the Blackburn job."
If Ince were to take over at Ewood Park he would require the same special dispensation afforded Gareth Southgate when he became
Middlesbrough boss two years ago.
Ince is the favourite to become Blackburn boss ahead of former Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce and England flop Steve McClaren.
The former
Manchester United player, 40, is a relative managerial novice but won the League Two title and the Football League trophy in his debut season at MK Dons.
