Ronaldo could be out of action for up to six weeks
Reports in Spain suggest that
Manchester United Chief Executive David Gill will discuss the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo with his Real Madrid counterpart Ramon Calderon when the two meet at a G14 conference in Switzerland this week.
The G14 conference a meeting of the powerbrokers of Europes biggest clubs - takes place in Nyon in Monday and it is thought Calderon will use the opportunity to make Madrids interest in the Portuguese winger official.
On Friday Manchester United dismissed any talk of selling Ronaldo as laughable, but with the player said to be eager to move they may be placed in a difficult position once Madrid make an official approach.
It is also rumoured that Ronaldo could miss the start of the season as he is expected under ankle surgery this week, an operation which will keep him out of action for up to six weeks.
