John Terry could be set to return to Premiership action just two weeks after undergoing surgery on a troublesome back injury, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed.

Speaking earlier this evening ahead of the Blues' game at Aston Villa, Mourinho confirmed that the 26-year-old was set to play against Wigan at Stamford Bridge on January 13th.

While on the sidelines, the England captain has watched Chelsea concede eight goals in their last four matches, as well as drop four points in home games against Reading and Fulham.

But his manager told Sky Sports: "This will be the last Premiership game Terry will miss."

Chelsea are thought to have arranged a behind-closed-doors friendly later this week to augment their captain's recovery.

And in further good news for the champions' quest for three straight Premiership titles, Mourinho also revealed that winger Arjen Robben and goalkeeper Petr Cech could return to first-team action before the end of the month.

Victory at Villa Park tonight would cut Manchester United's lead to four points, with both teams having played 22 games.

Chelsea have found themselves in the unfamiliar position of playing catch-up for the majority of the season, amid criticism that the club's transfer market dealings in the summer have weakened the Blues' squad

High-profile signings Andriy Shevchenko and Michael Ballack have largely failed to impress, while stalwarts Eidur Gudjohnsen, William Gallas and Damien Duff were all sold.
