Hodgson hoping first Fulham away win can lead to survival

Roy Hodgson still hoping for Premier League stay
Fulham manager Roy Hodgson is hoping his side's 2-0 win away at Reading will give his players the confidence they need to try and fight off relegation.

Goals from strikers Brian McBride and Erik Nevland helped Fulham claim their first away win in the Premier League this season and remarkably their first since September 2006.

Fulham are now only four points behind Birmingham City who are in 17th place, but the Cottagers still have Bolton above them who are two points in front of them.

"There is a danger it's come too late in the season because there's teams around us getting points and I can't deny that there is that risk, but while there's life, there's hope," said Hodgson.

"I think the performance today, and the victory today, would've given the players a much needed boost in their confidence.

"Lets hope we can continue that, albeit I'm not looking forward to the next game against Liverpool who are a very good side and I'm sure will test us to the limit."

Fulham have four games left to try and salvage their Premier League status. They face Birmingham in the penultimate game of the season, which could turn out to be the game that decides their future. End of story
